Introduction AERO-SPORT flying school and FTO is approved for private pilot license  courses (PPL(A) JAR-FCL) as well as instrument rating courses (IR(A)). The association's aim is to promote and develop general aviation. In addition to pilot training, AERO-SPORT also arranges excursions, trips and training courses abroad for its members. AERO-SPORT participates regularly in international air meetings and air rally competitions. The very high success rate of our pilot students in examinations for the pilot's license and further qualifications demonstrates the professional approach to pilot training adopted by AERO-SPORT. Requirements for the PPL(A) Licence You must be at least 16 years of age (Minors need to present written parental authorization). You must satisfy the conditions regarding medical fitness laid down under aeronautical regulations. You must bring a recent photo. AERO-SPORT prepares you for the theoretical and practical examinations which you have to take to obtain a private pilot's license (PPL(A)). This internationally valid license allows you to pilot any single-engine airplane throughout the world. If you want to start, contact the AERO-SPORT office for our documentation, which contains additional useful hints and present rates and conditions. To follow the training, first you must see a medical examiner approved in Luxembourg and you must become an AERO-SPORT club-member. Theoretical training The theoretical courses cover flying technique, regulations, air navigation, meteorology, engine, cockpit instruments and radio procedures. Having completed this training, candidates must sit a theoretical examination based on multiple choice questions. Theory courses are held in 60 sessions of 2 hours each, between October and April, two to three evenings per week at the AERO-SPORT club house. Course languages are English and French. Practical training Practical training which may start in parallel with the theoretical course must include a minimum of 45 hours flying time, divided into 2 separate phases : You will get acquainted with the aircraft, climb, descend, turn, take off and land. Your instructor teaches you how to react correctly during the flights you carry out with him on board. Once you are able to take full control of the aircraft, you will make your first solo flight around the airport. You train and complete your skills in take-offs and landings flying around the area of the airport, either alone or with your instructor on board. You also learn how to prepare and make flights to other airports located abroad and you familiarize yourself with radiotelephony in English. Once you have completed this phase, your instructor enters you for the practical flying examination to obtain your private pilots license. How much does it cost? Obtaining a private pilot's license costs around EUR 8500. A down payment for admission, membership and course material is required. Flight hours and flight training are paid into a pilot's account which must show a positive balance at any time. The cost for the theory course include all course material like instruction manuals, navigation calculator, logbook, aeronautical charts etc.

Introduction L'école de pilotage et FTO AERO-SPORT est approuvé pour les cours de licence de pilote privé (PPL(A) JAR-FCL) comme pour les cours de qualification de vol aux instruments (IR(A)). L'école de pilotage AERO-SPORT a pour objet la promotion et le développement de l'aviation générale. Outre les activités axées sur l'écolage, AERO-SPORT offre à ces membres des possibilités d'évasion, des voyages ainsi que des stages de formation à l'étranger. AERO-SPORT est fréquemment représenté lors des manifestations aéronautiques tels que rallyes et meetings aériens. Le niveau du sérieux qu'affiche AERO-SPORT est chiffré par les très hauts pourcentages de réussite des élèves - pilotes qu'elle présente chaque année aux examens pour l'obtention de la licence de pilote privé d'avion et des qualifications y afférentes. Conditions requises pour la licence PPL(A) Être âgé de 16 ans au moins (le candidat mineur devra produire l'autorisation écrite des parents ou de son représentant légal) Satisfaire aux conditions médicales fixées par la réglementation aéronautique Produire 1 photo récente. Lorsque ces conditions sont réunies, AERO-SPORT vous prépare à un examen théorique et un examen pratique pour l'obtention de la licence de pilote privé d'avion (PPL(A)). Cette licence à validité internationale vous permet de piloter tous les avions monomoteurs dans le monde entier. Pour obtenir la formation, d'abord il faut subir une visite médicale auprès d'un médecin approuvé au Luxembourg et vous devez devenir membre du club AERO-SPORT. Formation théorique Les cours théoriques portent sur la technique du vol, la réglementation, la navigation aérienne, la météorologie, le groupe motopropulseur, les instruments de bord et la radiotéléphonie. Après avoir terminé cette formation, les candidats se présenteront à l'examen théorique sous forme de questions à choix multiple. Les cours se répartissent sur 60 séances de 2 heures chacune au club house de l'AERO-SPORT, deux à trois fois par semaine les soirs entre les mois d'octobre et mars. Les cours sont tenus en Anglais et en Français. Formation pratique Les cours pratiques qui pourront commencer en parallèle avec les cours théoriques, doivent comporter un minimum de 45 heures de vol et se divisent en 2 phases distinctes : Vous vous familiarisez avec l'avion. Vous apprenez à monter, à descendre, à virer, décoller et atterrir. Votre instructeur vous apprend à réagir correctement lors des vols que vous effectuez avec lui à bord. Lorsque vous avez l'avion bien en main, vous effectuez votre premier vol seul à bord, autour de l'aérodrome. Vous perfectionnez vos atterrissages et décollages en volant avec instructeur ou seul à bord autour du terrain d'aviation. Vous apprenez également à préparer et faire des vols vers des aérodromes étrangers et à vous familiariser avec la radiotéléphonie en anglais. Cette phase terminée, votre instructeur vous présente à l'examen pratique en vol, afin d'obtenir votre licence de pilote privé d'avion. Combien ça coûte? La licence de pilote privé d'avion coûte environ EUR 8500. Un acompte pour l'admission, la cotisation et le matériel pour le cours vous sera demandé. Les heures de vol et d'entraînement seront payées sur un compte pilote dont le solde doit rester positif à chaque moment. Les frais pour les cours théoriques comprennent tout le matériel requis, tel que manuels d'instruction, ordinateur de navigation, carnet de vol, différentes cartes aéronautiques etc.
